About the Role:
We are looking for an inspiring and dedicated History Teacher to join our vibrant secondary school in Newcastle-under-Lyme. This is an exciting opportunity to teach passionate students and help them explore the fascinating world of history. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4), supporting students in their academic development, and preparing them for GCSE success.
As a History Teacher, you will be expected to plan, deliver, and assess lessons in line with the national curriculum, ensuring that every lesson is engaging, challenging, and tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. You will also be responsible for marking work and providing constructive feedback to support their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and effective History lessons to students in KS3 and KS4
Plan and prepare lessons in accordance with the national curriculum and school policies
Assess students' progress regularly through marking, feedback, and exams
Help students develop their historical thinking, analysis, and writing skills
Provide guidance and support for students preparing for GCSE exams
Manage classroom behavior effectively, maintaining a positive learning environment
Collaborate with colleagues to develop schemes of work and teaching resources
Participate in staff meetings, school events, and extra-curricular activities as required
Contribute to the school's wider educational goals and improvement initiatives
The Ideal Candidate:
Qualified teacher with a relevant degree in History and a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
Experience teaching History at KS3 and KS4 is preferred, but not essential
A passion for history and an ability to inspire students to develop a love for the subject
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Ability to plan and deliver stimulating lessons that cater to different learning styles
Committed to continuous professional development and a collaborative approach to teaching
Ability to manage the marking, assessment, and feedback process effectively
