Full Time Permanent 35 hours a week Monday - Friday 8:30 - 4:30
Grade 7 - £30,492 - £39,890 FTE; Actual Salary £24,563 to £32,134 per annum
Aspire People are currently recruiting for a Careers Advisor to work for a fantastic School based in Coventry.
The role is Permanent position and looking to start ASAP following a successful interview.
Day to day responsibilities:
*Work with pupils and staff to raise aspirations and provide accurate and up-to-date advice and guidance on careers pathways.
*Work with the Head of Life Choices to produce / provide suitable careers materials and talks within the Life Choices framework.
*Advise pupils through the GCSE and A-level option processes. This should include at least one 1-to-1 conversation with each Year 11 pupil in the Autumn Term, and each Year 12 in the Spring Term.
*Oversee Unifrog and similar platforms.
*Organise a range of careers events both at lunchtimes and outside the school day.
*Plan, organise and promote work-related learning, such as industry days.
*Work with Heads of Department to incorporate work-related learning/enterprise opportunities into their schemes of work.
*Organise Year 9 careers forum in the Summer Term.
*Offer appointments for pupils and parents during academic Parents' Evenings.
Work Experience:
*Maintain a database of historic work-experience placement.
*Advise pupils how to obtain placements and collect feedback to monitor their effectiveness (the school does not directly arrange these placements).
*Develop effective links with external agencies/organisations, including the careers advisory service and local businesses.
Volunteering
*Work with the Teacher i/c Volunteering to develop volunteering opportunities for Sixth Form pupils.
*Maintain a database of all volunteering opportunities.
*Help with the monitoring of pupils in placements, including visits and regular email / phone contact with placements.
*Promote NCS to Year 11s for the summer following their GCSEs.
UCAS & apprenticeships
*Support the Head of Sixth Form in the administration of the university admissions (UCAS) process for Sixth Form, and advise pupils on university course choice.
*Run sessions on UCAS day, and as required by the Head of Sixth Form.
*Lead on the applications procedure for apprenticeships.
You will need be/have to:
*Working at or towards National Occupational Standards (NOS) in advice and guidance or Learning, Development and Support Services and knowledge / skills equivalent to current national qualifications in advice, guidance and advocacy level 4.
