GCSE

Some training providers (especially colleges) do ask for you to have GCSE qualifications grade C or above in both English and Maths, however, some providers will say they do not require any previous qualifications.

Level 3 Teaching Assistants

There are many Level 3 Teaching Assistants courses that training providers offer. Some jobs may differentiate in settings for example Primary, SENand Secondary. Listed below are options of distance learning, on-the-job training and Full Time College learning.

Level 4 – Higher Level Teaching Assistants

With not many Level 3 TA’s going on to complete a Level 4 course HLTA’s (Higher Level Teaching Assistants) are sought after. Schools will often use HTLA’s to cover lessons internally short term. How Do I Find a Job as a TA Once I Have Gained These Qualifications?

Once you have gained your Level 3 TA qualification you can start applying for Teaching Assistant jobs. There are a couple of routes you can go with this depending on your personal circumstances.

Permanent Teaching Assistant Jobs

If you a looking for a full time role employed directly by a school then it would be best to look on local the council website. Schools often post their permanent jobs on TES. You can also use Aspire People to find a permanent Teaching Assistant job.

Supply Teaching

Whilst being flexible supply TA jobs will also allow you to work in a whole host of schools to build up your experience.
