We are looking for an empathetic, proactive Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team. If you are passionate about supporting young people with complex needs and want to make a difference in their educational journey, this could be the perfect role for you.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support: Assisting the class teacher in delivering lessons, providing individual or small-group support to students with a range of SEN needs, particularly those with behavioural and emotional difficulties.
Behaviour Management: Supporting the implementation of positive behaviour management strategies, ensuring a calm and focused learning environment for all students.
Individualised Assistance: Helping to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and specific learning strategies tailored to the needs of each student.
Personal Development: Encouraging students to engage in their learning and promoting social, emotional, and behavioural development both in and outside the classroom.
Monitoring Progress: Observing and recording students' progress, providing feedback to teachers, and contributing to reviews of student development.
Collaboration: Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure consistent and high-quality support for each student.
Communication: Building positive relationships with students, parents, and carers, providing regular updates on student progress and wellbeing.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly those with behavioural and emotional difficulties.
A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach, with the ability to adapt to students' individual needs.
A solid understanding of effective behaviour management techniques and the ability to implement them consistently.
Excellent communication skills, both with students and adults, including teachers, parents, and colleagues.
A positive attitude, resilience, and the ability to motivate and engage students in their learning.
An understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to creating a safe, supportive environment for all students.
(Desirable) Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or other relevant training/experience in SEN.
