* Collaboration: Work closely with parents, external agencies, and the local authority to ensure that SEND students receive the best possible support. Maintain open communication with families to provide updates on progress and address any concerns.
* Monitoring and Reporting: Regularly monitor the progress of students with SEND, tracking academic and personal development. Report on progress to the Senior Leadership Team and governors and maintain up-to-date records on all SEND learners.
* Inclusive Culture: Promote a school-wide culture of inclusion, ensuring that all students, regardless of ability or need, feel valued and supported in the school environment.
* Budget Management: Oversee the SEND budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to support students' needs and to enhance their learning experiences.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Qualified SENCO: A recognized SENCO qualification (e.g., National Award for SEN Coordination) or a willingness to complete the qualification if not already held.
* Experience in SEND: Proven experience of working with children with a wide range of SEND within a primary school setting.
* Knowledge of SEND Legislation: Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, SEN legislation, and strategies for inclusive practice in a primary school context.
* Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and motivate staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for both students and colleagues.
* Strong Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, parents, external agencies, and the wider school community.
* Problem Solving: A creative and resourceful approach to solving challenges, with a focus on finding the best possible solutions for individual learners.
* Empathy and Patience: A compassionate and patient approach when working with children with diverse needs, building positive relationships with students and their families.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
* Experience in a primary school: Experience working in a primary school setting, ideally as a SENCO or in a similar role.
* Knowledge of additional support needs: Familiarity with specific SEND areas, such as autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, dyslexia, or physical disabilities.
* Teamwork: A strong team player, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and external professionals to create the best learning environment for SEND students.
Benefits:
* Competitive salary and benefits package
* Access to ongoing professional development and training
* Supportive and friendly working environment
