Job description
Severe Learning Disabilities Specialist - LongsightAspire People are seeking an experienced and compassionate Severe Learning Disabilities (SLD) Specialist to support a specialist educational setting in the Longsight. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to improving outcomes for pupils with complex needs and creating a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.

The Role
*You will work closely with pupils who have severe learning disabilities, delivering tailored support that meets their individual needs. This includes assisting with communication development, sensory based learning, behaviour regulation, and personal care where required. You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning in a meaningful and engaging way.
Essential Requirements
*Experience working with pupils with severe learning disabilities
*Strong understanding of SEND strategies and communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton, sensory approaches)
*Ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent
*Confident behaviour management skills
*A positive, resilient, and compassionate approach
*Relevant qualifications or training in SEND are highly desirable
