Are you passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Do you have the patience, creativity, and dedication to make a real difference in the lives of young people? We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team in Northampton, supporting secondary-aged students with complex needs.
About the Role:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in providing tailored support to students with a range of complex needs, including learning difficulties, autism, physical disabilities, and emotional/behavioural challenges. You will work closely with teachers, other support staff, and specialists to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, helping students to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with complex needs, both in and outside of the classroom.
Assist in the development and delivery of individualised learning plans and interventions.
Support students with communication, social, and emotional development.
Help students with personal care, mobility, and other physical tasks as required.
Promote independence and encourage students to develop key life skills.
Work collaboratively with other professionals, including teachers, therapists, and parents, to ensure the best outcomes for the students.
Manage challenging behaviours and help create strategies to support students' emotional well-being.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience working with secondary-aged students with complex needs, ideally in a SEND or special school setting.
A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with young people.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents.
An understanding of SEND and a passion for making a positive impact.
A commitment to professional development and working as part of a team.
A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special needs is desirable, but not essential.
