Job description
Aspire are working with a new and exciting specialist setting, we are looking for dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), sensory processing needs, and non-verbal communication challenges. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a nurturing, sensory-rich environment where every day brings new opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of our young people.As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers and other professionals to provide tailored support to students, ensuring that their individual needs, interests, and aspirations are met. Your role will be crucial in helping students access their learning in ways that are meaningful and engaging, promoting independence, and supporting their overall development.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with PMLD and sensory processing challenges.
* Support students' engagement with their learning, ensuring that activities are adapted to meet sensory and individual needs.
* Assist with personal care, mobility, and communication needs in a respectful and dignified manner.
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, under the guidance of the teaching staff.
* Help implement sensory engagement models, working with students to develop skills in communication, interaction, and independence.
* Work closely with the wider school team, including therapists, to create a holistic approach to student development.
* Support students in accessing the school environment, while ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, ideally in a PMLD or sensory setting.
* A patient, compassionate, and flexible approach to supporting students with complex needs.
* A passion for inclusive education and a commitment to helping students achieve their full potential.
* Ability to work well in a team, collaborating with teachers and other professionals.
* An understanding of sensory processing and how to adapt learning activities to meet individual needs (training can be provided).
* A proactive attitude with a focus on supporting positive student outcomes.
