February Half Term - Summer TermSpecialist SEND Secondary School (Crosby Area)
£95-£105 per day (PAYE)
A specialist secondary school for pupils with SEND, aged 11-16, is seeking a dedicated and nurturing classroom support professional to join their team from February half term through to the summer term, working within a Year 7/8 nurture provision.
The school is based in the Crosby area and has strong links with the local community. It is committed to ensuring all pupils can achieve academically, personally and socially through a curriculum and learning environment that meets individual needs.
The Role
You will be supporting pupils in a small nurture class (with low pupil numbers), working with students who have high levels of need, primarily Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role would suit someone calm, patient and consistent, who can build positive relationships and provide structured, nurturing support.
A sporty background or experience as a sports coach is highly desirable, as physical activity and movement are key tools used to support engagement, regulation and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
-Supporting pupils academically, socially and emotionally within a nurture setting
-Assisting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
-Using sport and physical activity to support engagement and wellbeing
-Working closely with teaching staff, SEND professionals and wider support teams
-Encouraging independence, confidence and resilience
-Maintaining safeguarding and SEND best practice at all times
The Ideal Candidate
-Experience working with children or young people with ASD and complex needs
-A background in sport, coaching, PE or physical activity
-A calm, patient and nurturing approach
-Confident supporting pupils with behaviour and emotional needs
-Passionate about inclusive education and pupil development
