SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator)Full-time Position | Immediate Start Available
Location: Merton, South West London
Salary: £190-£265 per day, dependent on experience
We are delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dedicated SENCo to join a supportive and inclusive school in Merton, South West London. This full-time position is available for an immediate start and is ideal for a candidate with proven experience in the SENCo role and a strong understanding of ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition).
While a formal SENCo qualification is not essential, applicants must have prior experience carrying out SENCo responsibilities and a clear understanding of statutory requirements, EHCP processes, and inclusive provision.
About the Role:
As SENCo, you will play a vital role in leading and coordinating the provision for pupils with special educational needs across the school. You will work closely with the senior leadership team, teaching staff, support staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure high-quality, inclusive practice and positive outcomes for all learners, particularly those with ASC.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the school's SEND provision in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
Oversee and coordinate EHCP processes, annual reviews, and provision mapping.
Support staff in implementing effective strategies for pupils with ASC and additional needs.
Monitor progress of pupils with SEND, using data to inform interventions and support plans.
Work collaboratively with external professionals, including therapists and local authority representatives.
Provide guidance, training, and support to teachers and support staff to promote inclusive practice.
Build strong relationships with parents and carers, ensuring clear communication and collaborative working.
About You:
Proven experience working as a SENCo within a school setting.
Strong understanding of ASC and strategies to support pupils with autism.
Sound knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements.
Confident in leading EHCP processes and liaising with external agencies.
Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff, families, and professionals.
