Job description
Exciting Opportunity: 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant - SEMH Students at Special School in KetteringLocation: Kettering
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Are you passionate about working with young people who face challenges in their education and well-being? Do you have the patience, resilience, and creativity to support primary and secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? If so, we want YOU to join our team as a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant!
We are a fantastic Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Kettering, providing tailored support to primary and secondary-aged students with SEMH. This role will see you working closely with an individual student, providing them with the bespoke support they need to overcome challenges and thrive in both their academic and personal development.
What You'll Be Doing:
1:1 Support: You'll be providing dedicated support to a specific child, helping them access the curriculum and develop socially, emotionally, and academically.
Personalized Learning: Adapt lesson content and teaching approaches to meet the specific needs of the student, ensuring they feel engaged and confident.
Building Trust & Confidence: Help the student build their self-esteem and independence, offering encouragement and emotional support throughout the day.
Collaborating with the Team: Work alongside the class teacher, other support staff, and external specialists to ensure the best possible outcomes for the student.
Behavioural Support: Assist with managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a positive, supportive way, ensuring the student feels safe and understood.
Emotional Well-being: Be a consistent and caring presence, helping the student develop coping strategies and build emotional resilience.
Who We're Looking For:
Empathetic & Resilient: You have a genuine passion for working with students who have SEMH needs and you're able to stay calm, patient, and supportive, even in challenging situations.
Experience with SEND: Experience working with children with SEMH or other SEND is ideal. But if you're enthusiastic, open to learning, and eager to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you!
Creative & Flexible: You're not afraid to think outside the box and find creative ways to engage students and help them feel confident in their learning and social interactions.
Team-Oriented: You enjoy collaborating with others and working in a supportive, team-based environment.
Qualifications (Preferred but Not Essential): If you have a relevant qualification in SEND, child development, or education, that's a bonus, but it's not a must-have.
What's In It for You:
A Rewarding Role: Every day will bring a sense of purpose as you see the progress your student makes, both academically and personally.
Professional Development: We offer ongoing training and support to help you develop your skills in working with SEND students, particularly those with SEMH needs.
A Caring Team: You'll be part of a passionate, supportive team who work closely together to ensure that each student reaches their full potential.
Competitive Salary & Benefits: Enjoy a competitive salary, along with excellent benefits and the satisfaction of making a real impact in a child's life.
If you're ready to be part of a school where your support can truly change lives, we would love to hear from you!
