Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant - Secondary SchoolLocation: Nuneaton
Hours: Full Time, Term Time Only
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications
A dynamic secondary school in Nuneaton is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Teaching Assistant with a specialism in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed SEND team focused on ensuring every student is fully supported to succeed.
The Opportunity
You will work with secondary-aged students across Key Stages 3 and 4, providing targeted academic and pastoral support. The role involves helping students overcome barriers to learning, develop self-confidence, and build the skills needed for independence both in and beyond the classroom.
Main responsibilities include:
Delivering consistent 1:1 and small group support
Assisting teachers with adapting resources to meet individual needs
Supporting students with social interaction, communication, and emotional regulation
Applying structured approaches and behaviour support strategies
Contributing to the delivery and review of EHCP outcomes
Working collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and parents
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a candidate who:
Has proven experience supporting young people with autism in a secondary setting
Understands strategies to support sensory needs, organisation, and engagement
Is patient, proactive, and able to build strong professional relationships
Demonstrates flexibility across a range of curriculum subjects
Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
Has a clear understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
