SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) - Specialist Secondary School in StokePosition: Full-time, Long-Term (Temp-to-Perm Opportunities)
Location: Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to join our client specialist secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent. This school provides a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for pupils with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Trauma, Anxiety, and Behavioral difficulties.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students on a one-to-one or small group basis to support their learning and emotional development. You will help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment, adapting your approach to meet the needs of each pupil.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with ASD, anxiety, trauma, and behavioral challenges.
- Assist with learning activities, providing tailored support in both academic and social contexts.
- Help with classroom management, encouraging positive behavior and supporting emotional well-being.
- Offer guidance and reassurance to students, helping them to build confidence and independence.
- Assist with personal care and mobility when required.
- Work alongside other professionals, including therapists, social workers, and educational psychologists.
About You:
- Previous experience working with SEN students, particularly those with ASD, trauma, anxiety, or behavioral challenges is highly desirable.
- Alternatively, you must be adaptable, patient, and willing to learn and develop your skills in this area.
- A proactive, empathetic approach to working with vulnerable young people.
- Strong communication skills, both with students and colleagues.
- A commitment to providing a high standard of care and support for every student.
- Ideally, you will hold a relevant qualification (such as CACHE Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent), but this is not essential if you are committed to professional development.
