About the Role:
Aspire People is currently seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) to provide support to students with special educational needs (SEN) in mainstream classrooms, SEN hubs, and specialist settings across Shrewsbury. This long-term position offers the chance to work in a variety of educational environments, supporting children to access the curriculum and develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 or small group support for students with SEN across mainstream and specialist settings.
Assist in the delivery of tailored interventions to support academic progress, emotional development, and social skills.
Support the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and ensure goals are met.
Encourage students to develop their independence, both in learning and everyday activities.
Use positive behaviour strategies to help manage and support students' engagement in lessons.
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to monitor progress and adapt support strategies.
Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and staff members.
Help to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
Requirements:
Experience working with children with SEN in a school or similar educational setting.
Passion for working with students with diverse learning needs and a commitment to their development.
SEN-related qualifications (e.g., SEN TA qualification or equivalent) are ideal, but not essential if you have relevant hands-on experience.
Familiarity with different SEN strategies and interventions to support learning and behaviour.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with a wide range of people.
Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children with varying needs.
Flexibility to adapt to different teaching environments, including mainstream classrooms, SEN hubs, and specialist provisions.
