Job description
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Primary School Teacher to join our team, working with children who have a variety of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Sensory Processing Issues, and Non-Verbal Communication. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students.Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to the diverse needs of students with SEND.
Provide targeted support for students with learning disabilities, fostering an inclusive and positive classroom environment.
Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with non-verbal communication and sensory requirements, using appropriate tools and resources.
Work closely with the SENCO and support staff to implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
Create a safe, nurturing space where students feel valued, understood, and empowered to learn.
Manage and support challenging behaviors with appropriate interventions and restorative practices.
Track and report on student progress, adjusting teaching methods to help each student reach their potential.
The Ideal Candidate:
PGCE with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is essential.
Experience working with children with SEMH, Autism, Sensory Needs, and Learning Disabilities.
Knowledge of SEND strategies to support students with varying emotional, social, and learning needs.
A patient, empathetic approach with a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Ability to adapt lessons and activities to suit individual student needs.
Experience using alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton) is highly desirable.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and families.
