Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified and passionate SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Teacher to join one of our client supportive secondary school in Telford. The school is committed to providing a nurturing environment for pupils with SEMH needs, ensuring that each child is empowered to reach their full potential.This is a full-time, long-term role with the potential to become permanent, depending on performance and school needs. As an SEMH Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping the educational and personal development of students who require additional support in their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering high-quality lessons to secondary-aged students with SEMH needs.
- Developing and implementing tailored learning plans to support individual student progress.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with students to promote engagement, self-esteem, and emotional well-being.
- Managing classroom behavior effectively and providing a safe, inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborating with other staff members, including teaching assistants, SENCO, and pastoral care teams.
- Working closely with parents/carers to monitor and improve students' social, emotional, and academic development.
- Keeping accurate records of student progress and contributing to reports and assessments.
- Supporting the school's wider SEMH strategy and contributing to whole-school initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
- Experience teaching students with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviors is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of SEMH needs and proven strategies for supporting students with emotional and behavioral difficulties.
- Excellent classroom management skills and a calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Ability to build rapport with students and staff, and work as part of a collaborative team.
- Passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young people.
