Aspire People are currently working with a fantastic secondary school in Birmingham with the recruitment of a Technical Operations Manager. The role will be temporary in the first instance with a permanent opportunity available for the right candidate. The role will be full time and is to start as soon as possible
Reporting to the Business Manager, the post holder will be required to take overall responsibility for all ICT and associated systems including school access and exit systems, CCTV and telephones across the school. A key aspect of the role is to ensure that ICT and associated systems of the school are readily available for the use of pupils and staff. Also to further develop those systems to introduce improvements and efficiency gains for all users. The post holder will also be responsible for the line management of the school's technicians (science, DT, reprographics) and minibus drivers.
*To devise and implement an ICT development strategy for the whole school
*To manage and support the team of IT Technicians to ensure effective ICT support
*To manage and ensure the installation and configuration of software onto the network and to maintain existing installations
*To monitor and take responsibility for the ICT budget and procure resources required in line with school financial procedures
*To develop appropriate intranet policies to ensure any unacceptable usage or access is captured and logged. Appropriate reports of activity must be maintained and any breaches followed up without delay.
*To ensure that all those involved with the school's ICT network have a sound working knowledge of major ICT acts and laws including General Data Protection Regulations and Freedom of Information regulations
*To develop systems for effective in-class support provided by ICT staff to pupils.
*To manage the supply and organisation for running an out of hours ICT provision/ remote access provision for staff
*To develop a quality assurance programme for all software ensuring there is a clear Service Level Agreement for the provision of the ICT support across the school
*To oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of the School's web presence, including website and VLE, along with all other forms of ICT communications
*To oversee and coordinate the work of the technical support operations of the school ensuring technical staff are equipped and trained to deal with issues that arise on site.
*To ensure there is a suitable ICT disaster recovery plan in place and that all technicians are appropriately trained in this regard
*To liaise with other staff to consider developments in ICT provision and make appropriate recommendations to senior management

CCTV
*To have a thorough understanding of the CCTV equipment used in the school and ensure it is fully operational at all times
*To liaise with external providers as required
*To maintain and co-ordinate repairs of CCTV equipment and peripherals
*To ensure the school complies with regulations in relation to storing and reporting recorded data
*To report any unusual, suspicious or questionable activity in accordance with school policy
Telephones
*To maintain documentation related to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
*To develop, implement and manage policies and procedures
*To prepare training plans for network administration, usage, and disaster recovery
*To assist with deployment of company local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), voice and wireless networks, including routers, hubs, switches, UPS, and other hardware
*To conduct research on telecommunication products, services, protocols, and standards making recommendations to management to ensure the school systems remain current and fit for purpose
*To suggest innovative networking solutions to ensure efficiency and effectiveness within the school's communication systems
*To configure and test landline and mobile networks to ensure their smooth and reliable operation
Reprographics
*To manage the reprographics function, ensuring technicians are trained and equipped to carry out their role
*To oversee and ensure that equipment is always maintained effectively
*To liaise with relevant senior members of staff to ensure the provision meets the needs of the School
Transport

Management
*To manage and adhere to the relevant school budgets ensuring best value across all expenditure streams
*To monitor staff requirements and performance and ensure any training needs are addressed
*To effectively communicate with all external suppliers, partners, consultants and advisors to ensure all processes remain compliant with Health and Safety and other statutory and compliance regulations
*To pro-actively contribute to the development of the role and the further strategic development of the support staff function within the school
