Job description
Are you a friendly cook with experience working in school setting who can get along with your kitchen team, school administration and children? Did you work in a high volume catering environment? Do you know health and safety procedures? Are you familiar with COSHH regulations?I am currently looking to recruit a school cook for an independent SEMH school in Boston to work on an ongoing temporary basis, which might lead to a full time position.
The successful candidate MUST have at least Level 1 Certificate in Food Preparation and Cooking, Hold a food hygiene certificate. Have undertaken fire safety awareness training.
Main duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
Prepare and cook food in accordance with agreed menus to ensure meals are prepared at the appropriate times.
Coordinate the preparation and clearing of the dining facilities in line with agreed serving plans.
Work with the school cook to ensure that the menu is amended to reflect seasonal ingredients. Ensure that the menu minimises food waste. Consider the preferences and wishes of pupils when developing a menu.
Ensure that effective, safe and professional standards are met. Communicate with pupils in a manner that encourages them to try new and healthy food.
Adhere to the school's Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy at all times.
Ensure all machinery, equipment, surfaces and storage areas are cleaned appropriately.
Carry out daily stock takes and reorder any items that are low in stock.
Handle any accidents in relation to preparation, cooking, serving and cleaning, in accordance with the First Aid Policy.
You will be required to fully register with us including providing right to work documents along with obtaining an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS that will be processed by us but comes at a cost (unless you already have one registered on the update service).
