Are you a School Business Manager seeking a new opportunity? Aspire People are working with a MAT in Birmingham for the recruitment of a Business Manager. The role is full time and temporary, with the view of becoming permanent. The role is to start ASAP and is perfect if you're approaching the end of a contract. You will provide full support to the Executive Head Teacher and SLT to ensure effective leadership, management and administration of the school.

As the School Business Manager you will:
*Support with tender processes and ensure they adhere to the policies and procedures of the MAT
*Support with the financial management and Human Resource functions of the school
*Actively contribute to the schools Development Plan, making meaningful suggestions
*Promote the highest standards of business efficiency within the administrative function of the school
*Be an advocate of the school and MAT's continued progress and success and attend meetings when required to present information to the SLT, Executive Leadership Team, COO, CEO and Local Governing Body
*Undertake relevant responsibilities as delegated by the Executive Head or Local Governing Body
*Be highly involved in the school's community and be active in aspects of school life
*Support with the daily financial operation of the school including long-term forecasting, budgeting, monitoring, benchmarking and risk management
*Adhere to all financial regulations (specifically SORP), MAT schemes of delegation, MAT financial procedures and internal control measures
*Support with the preparation of budgets and monitoring
*Prepare information for the statutory accounts for the school and work with the Accounts Manager to support the preparation of the consolidated accounts
*Facilitate financial inspections by internal and external auditors, taking action on recommendations
*Monitor SLA's and contracts to ensure VFM and Best Value are achieved
*Keep up-to-date with changes to financial policy and funding opportunities
*Work with and maintain administrative systems, ensuring maximum efficiency is achieved
*Handle sensitive/confidential data in adherence with data protection regulations
*Remain up-to-date with DfE statutory guidance and legislation that impacts the school
*Support with the planning and implementation of organisational change
*Have a knowledge and understanding of GDPR and how it will impact upon the schools practices
*Understand the management information systems used and remain up-to-date on new technologies
*Support the HR function within school ensuring the relevant HR policies are adhered to
*Be involved in the recruitment process of new staff, being able to identify skills, knowledge and understanding required of candidates
*Prepare salary forecasts to demonstrate affordability and sustainability of staffing structures
*Support with professional development, appraisal and training of admin staff
*Work with payroll software, offering guidance to colleagues where appropriate
*Assist the SLT in ensuring that the school meets all statutory obligations
*Support the HR Manager in regard to employment law and associated matters
*Manage contract services ensuring they remain consistently effective
*Ensure facilities are kept in good repair and meet relevant safety and sustainability standards
*Oversee lettings ensuring they meet legal requirements and do not damage the school and MAT's ethos
*Manage H&S arrangements ensuring these practices meet statutory obligations and are reflected in the MAT's H&S Policy
*Ensure that H&S issues are monitored effectively and delegate responsibility to the relevant members of staff
*Establish and implement a system to identify potential hazards, taking relevant action from this identification
*Understand and follow the MATs safeguarding procedures
*Be an advocate of maintaining and improving safeguarding standards for the school
*Understand safer recruitment , pre-employment checks, DBS to ensure staff and pupils are effectively safeguarded
The successful candidate will have/be:
*Relevant business management qualifications and/or experience
*Safer recruitment training
*Experience of HR and recruiting procedures
*Experience of using management information systems
*Experience of facilities management
*Experience of setting and managing budgets
*Experience of managing and implementing strategic plans and financial reporting
*Have a good understanding of the principles behind school improvement
*Able to present clearly a wide range of specialised information to a range of people
*Able to work sensitively and effectively with colleagues
*Able to lead and manage work and outcomes of other people
*Able to prioritise workload with conflicting deadlines
*Able to problem solve and create innovative solutions
*Excellent ICT skills including knowledge of software packages
