Job description
Learning Mentor - YardleyA welcoming and inclusive primary school in Yardley is seeking an experienced and dedicated Learning Mentor to join their team on a full-time supply basis.
This is initially a minimum 5-week placement, however the role may be extended and could potentially develop into a permanent opportunity as the school reviews its longer-term staffing structure.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to provide targeted support for pupils who require additional help to overcome barriers to learning, both inside and outside the classroom.
Key aspects of the role include:
* Providing 1:1 mentoring for pupils requiring additional support
* Identifying barriers to learning and implementing tailored action plans
* Supporting pupils' emotional wellbeing, engagement and attendance
* Liaising with families/carers to ensure positive home-school relationships
* Working collaboratively with the SENCO and wider staff team
* Supporting safeguarding, inclusion and the overall ethos of the school
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Previous experience working as a Learning Mentor, Pastoral Support Worker, Behaviour Mentor or similar role in a primary setting
* Strong understanding of barriers to learning and strategies to support vulnerable pupils
* Experience supporting children with SEND and social, emotional and mental health needs
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
* A proactive, nurturing and resilient approach
