Are You Ready to Make a Real Difference?We are looking for a compassionate, adaptable Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join one of our client specialist schools in Shrewsbury. The schools focus is to provide an inclusive environment for students with a range of learning difficulties, including:
- Moderate, severe, complex, and profound learning difficulties-
- Autism
- Physical and mobility challenges
- Behavioural and communication difficulties
If you are passionate about helping students overcome these challenges and achieve their potential, this is the role for you.
What Will You Be Doing?
As a HLTA, your role will be both rewarding and varied. You will:
- Lead and support lessons under the direction of class teachers, helping students engage in learning through tailored support.
- Provide 1:1 and small group assistance, ensuring that learning is accessible to all students, regardless of their individual needs.
- Promote confidence and independence in students by fostering a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
- Manage and support positive behaviour, using effective techniques to help maintain a calm and structured classroom.
- Encourage communication in students who face challenges in this area, using creative and inclusive methods to support their expression.
- Track and report on student progress, providing feedback to help inform the next steps in their learning.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
- Passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs.
- Patient, empathetic, and adaptable, with the ability to tailor your approach to meet individual needs.
- Experienced in SEN (Special Educational Needs) or a similar environment, though we welcome those with a strong desire to learn.
- A team player who enjoys collaborating with colleagues and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes for students.
- An effective communicator, with the ability to engage and motivate students, as well as work with parents and colleagues.
- Relevant qualifications (HLTA status or equivalent) are desirable but not essential for the right candidate.
