Job description
Aspire is collaborating with a special educational needs (SEN) school designed to support children and young people who are unable to attend school in person due to physical or other challenges. This innovative provision combines academic excellence with trauma-informed, flexible online delivery to set a new benchmark for inclusive education.We are seeking an experienced, values-driven Headteacher to establish and lead this trailblazing service, shaping its vision, culture, and approach from the ground up.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Education Services, the Headteacher will:
Lead the strategic and operational direction of the Online School
Foster a strong, inclusive, and trauma-informed school culture
Ensure high standards in teaching, curriculum design, and assessment
Oversee safeguarding, SEND provision, and pupil wellbeing
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements
Build and maintain effective partnerships with families, professionals, and key stakeholders
Develop and manage relationships with Local Authorities and colleagues within the Keys Group
Work remotely, with occasional national travel for meetings and regular visits to our offices in Birmingham & Ipswich
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
NPQH or equivalent leadership qualification
Senior leadership experience in a school, special school, or online setting
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, regulatory frameworks, and inspection processes
A clear commitment to inclusive, ethical, and trauma-informed educational practices
Desirable Attributes
Experience in online education or leading a school start-up
Knowledge of SEND and therapeutic educational approaches
