Job description
Aspire People are working to support a supportive secondary school in Telford, dedicated to providing high-quality education to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. They strive is to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every pupil is empowered to reach their full potential. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English teacher to join their team, working across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.The Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and qualified KS3/4 English teacher to work with students with with a diagnosis of social, emotional and behavioral difficulties with additional complex needs such as Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). The role is full-time and long-term.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality English lessons to KS3 and KS4 students, with a strong focus on the GCSE curriculum.
- Ensure that lessons are differentiated to meet the individual needs of students, particularly those with SEMH, while maintaining high academic standards.
- Develop and implement engaging and creative lessons that make the GCSE curriculum accessible and enjoyable for all students.
- Provide effective exam preparation and ensure students are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in their GCSE English assessments.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback and implementing tailored interventions when necessary.
- Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families to foster a positive and collaborative school community.
- Work alongside a dedicated support team to ensure students receive the care and attention they require to thrive both academically and emotionally.
Essential Requirements:
- A qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) and a degree in English or a related subject.
- Strong, in-depth knowledge of the English GCSE curriculum and experience delivering lessons that prepare students for GCSE exams.
- Experience teaching English to KS3/4 students, ideally in a setting that supports students with SEMH or additional needs.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to working with students with SEMH needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
- A passion for inclusive education and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of young people.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a special educational needs or SEMH setting.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and how to support students with complex emotional needs.
