Job description

If so, we want to hear from you!Aspire People are working to recruit a strong English Teacher to join a Secondary Specialist Setting committed to nurturing the emotional well-being, social development, and academic progress of their pupils.
The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated English Teacher to work full-time in a Secondary school environment, supporting students with SEMH needs. You will be teaching small class sizes, ensuring that each pupil receives tailored support in their English studies. In this role, you will work closely with Teaching Assistants (TAs) to create an inclusive and positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons with a strong focus on GCSE-level content.
- Provide tailored support for students with SEMH needs, using strategies to manage behavior and promote positive engagement.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers and support staff to address both academic and emotional needs of students.
- Foster a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes social development and personal growth.
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, encouraging their confidence and self-esteem.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of English GCSE content (Literature and Language).
- Previous experience teaching in a challenging environment, ideally supporting students with SEMH.
- A compassionate and patient approach to teaching, with a genuine interest in helping vulnerable students succeed.
- Ability to differentiate lessons and adapt your teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students.
- Experience working alongside TAs and other support staff.
Desirable:
- Experience or qualification in working with SEMH students.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices.
