Job description
ASD Teaching Assistant l MatlockAspire are working with a community-focused Primary school in Matlock who are looking for several positive Teaching Assistants specialising in ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) to work on a long term placement starting at Easter until Summer.
Are you experienced working with young people with autism? Can you use your knowledge and enthusiasm to help children to develop both socially and academically?
These ASD Teaching Assistant roles will involve working on a one to one basis with key stage 2 pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder within a warm and friendly primary school in Matlock. You will be supporting the student across a range of activities and lessons pre-set by the class teacher, but may need to adapt these to suit the individual needs of the child; so you will need a pro-active and flexible approach. Structure and routine are important for these pupils and you will need to be patient. These positions are specifically for TA's that have experience dealing with pupils with autism.
This developing primary school caters for around 300 children aged 3 to 11 years old. They aim to provide the best quality education to help every child succeed in a safe and happy environment. With a supportive staff team and good communication, they help pupils to learn key life skills with a focus on 'respect' for all; supporting pupils in becoming caring members of the community.
To be successful in this ASD Teaching Assistant role you will need;
*Experience working with SEND; specifically ASD
*Strong behaviour management with patience
*Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills
*A positive attitude and flexible approach
*Team Teach or similar de-escalation training (beneficial)
