Teaching Assistant (Y5, 1:1 Support) - ASD & ADHD SupportStart Date: 05/01/2025
Aspire People are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work with a Year 5 student who has ASD and ADHD. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting this child in staying on task and engaging with their learning in a way that meets their individual needs.
About the Role:
* 1:1 support for a Year 5 child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
* Provide structured and consistent support to help the child stay focused and engaged during lessons.
* Foster a positive learning environment with a balance of firm boundaries and nurturing encouragement.
* Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies that support the child's learning and emotional development.
* Support with social and emotional regulation, helping the child build confidence and independence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure the child remains on task and follows instructions throughout lessons.
* Provide tailored support, ensuring the child's individual learning needs are met.
* Manage any challenging behaviour in a positive, calm, and firm manner.
* Communicate regularly with the class teacher and other staff members to track progress.
* Support the child in building strong social skills and positive relationships with peers.
What We're Looking For:
* Experience working with children with ASD and ADHD (either in a school setting or through other support roles).
* Patience, empathy, and understanding of how to work effectively with children who need extra support.
* A firm but nurturing approach, with the ability to manage behaviour in a positive, proactive way.
* Strong communication skills, able to work effectively as part of a team and liaise with parents and staff.
* Ideally, previous experience in a similar role or qualification in SEN support (but not essential).
