About the Role:
As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support the learning and development of students in a variety of subjects. You will provide both individual and small group support, helping students overcome challenges and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment. Your role will be key in ensuring all students can access the curriculum and feel supported in their learning journey.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and ensuring all students can access learning materials.
Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, particularly those with additional needs or those requiring extra help with specific subjects.
Help students stay on task, managing their behavior and encouraging positive engagement in class activities.
Support students with SEN (Special Educational Needs), adapting resources and teaching strategies to meet their individual learning needs.
Contribute to the development of personalized learning plans (PLPs) for students and assist with the implementation of those plans.
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued.
Assist with classroom management, ensuring that the school's behavior policies are upheld.
Support the emotional and social development of students, providing encouragement and building their confidence.
Help with administrative tasks such as marking, preparing learning resources, and setting up classroom activities.
About You:
Experience working with young people, ideally in a secondary school setting (though experience is not essential).
A patient, supportive, and flexible approach to working with students, with a genuine desire to help them succeed.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and colleagues.
A proactive, adaptable approach to work, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
Enthusiasm for education and a desire to support students in overcoming barriers to learning.
