About the Role:
As a Secondary School Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support the learning of students across a range of subjects. You'll provide tailored assistance to individuals or small groups, helping them engage with lessons, develop their skills, and achieve their full potential. You will also support teachers with classroom management, ensuring that students are able to work in an environment that fosters focus and academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist teachers in delivering lessons and supporting students with their learning.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum.
Help to prepare and modify learning materials to meet individual student needs.
Encourage positive classroom behaviour and foster an atmosphere of respect and cooperation.
Support students with academic challenges, offering guidance and encouragement.
Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers.
Assist with administrative tasks such as marking, setting up learning resources, and preparing classroom displays.
Actively contribute to the school's inclusive ethos, promoting equality and respect for all students.
The Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, ideally in a secondary school setting.
A calm, patient, and positive approach to working with students.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with both students and staff.
A commitment to supporting students' learning and personal development.
Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative when needed.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
An understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to ensuring the welfare of students.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or similar) are desirable but not essential.
