SEND Class Teacher - Secondary Specialist AcademyAspire People are proud to be supporting a dynamic and forward-thinking Secondary Specialist Academy, which is currently seeking an inspiring and innovative SEND Class Teacher to join their team in September 2025.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autistic Spectrum Conditions/Disorders (ASC/D). The role is open to both experienced teachers and ECTs, with strong support and development opportunities available for the right candidate.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for delivering a highly personalised, engaging, and inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of students aged 11-16 with complex SEND. Your classroom will be a safe, structured environment that fosters confidence, independence, and emotional well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons in line with individual EHCPs and learning profiles
- Use a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach to behaviour and classroom management
- Establish clear routines and expectations to support pupils with SEMH and ASC/D needs
- Develop strong relationships with students, colleagues, families, and external professionals
- Monitor, assess and report on student progress and adapt teaching accordingly
- Participate in regular reviews, team meetings, and CPD sessions
- Contribute to a positive and nurturing school culture that promotes respect and resilience
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- QTS or QTLS (or pending for ECTs)
- Knowledge of SEND best practice, particularly SEMH and ASC/D
- A calm, adaptable and empathetic approach to teaching and behaviour management
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to plan for and deliver to a range of abilities within the classroom
- A genuine passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience in a specialist or alternative provision setting
- Team Teach or equivalent behaviour de-escalation training
- Understanding of trauma-informed practices and restorative approaches
