Job description
Make a Difference in a Specialist SEND School - Start Your Career with Us Today! Are you passionate about supporting children with complex needs? Do you have experience in care, support work, health & social care, nursing, or nursery work? Or perhaps you hold an EYFS qualification? This is your chance to start or advance your career in education, supporting non-verbal children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and global delay in an EYFS and KS1 SEND school in South Liverpool.
We are looking for dedicated, compassionate individuals to join our supportive team. The children at the school have complex learning needs, including global delay, and personal care is a key part of the role. You'll be providing vital support to non-verbal children, using Makaton, PECS, or BSL (British Sign Language) to help them communicate, engage with learning, and thrive in a safe, nurturing environment.
What the Role Involves:
Providing one-to-one and small-group support for children in EYFS and KS1, many of whom are non-verbal and have global delay.
Assisting with personal care, including toileting, changing, and feeding - always with dignity and respect.
Supporting children with mobility needs, including the use of hoists and wheelchair transfers.
Helping to implement individual learning plans and deliver sensory-based activities tailored to each child's needs.
Working closely with teachers, therapists, and medical staff to ensure that every child receives the best care and education.
Using communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, or BSL to help children express themselves and engage in learning.
What We're Looking For:
We want to hear from individuals who have:
Experience supporting children or adults with complex physical and learning needs, including global delay, whether in a school, residential, or care setting.
A background in care work, support work, nursing, health and social care, or nursery education.
EYFS qualification or experience in an early years or KS1 setting (desirable).
Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or BSL (desirable but not essential; training can be provided).
Experience with personal care (toileting, feeding, etc.) and a compassionate, patient approach to supporting children.
A team player who can adapt quickly, follow care plans, and celebrate every achievement, no matter how small.
Two years' worth of employment references to be provided.
What's On Offer:
We offer a rewarding and fulfilling role with excellent benefits:
Term-time hours - a perfect work-life balance with school hours only.
Ongoing training.
The chance to make a real difference to the lives of children with the most complex needs, including global delay.
Refer a friend and receive up to £250 for every successful referral.
£100 joining bonus when you complete your first 10 shifts.
Who Should Apply?
This role is perfect for anyone with a background in care, support work, nursing, health & social care, nursery work, or those holding an EYFS qualification. If you have a passion for working with children with complex needs, including global delay, and a desire to help them achieve their full potential, then we want to hear from you!
