Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Complex Needs)Location: Rugby, Warwickshire
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-time only

About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support students with complex needs at a well-regarded school in Rugby. This rewarding role involves working directly with a student on a one-to-one basis, providing tailored support to help them access the curriculum, develop social and emotional skills, and reach their full potential in a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one support for students with complex needs, both academically and socially.
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to create and implement individualised learning plans.
Adapt teaching materials and activities to meet the student's specific learning needs.
Support with communication, personal care, and physical tasks where appropriate.
Assist in the development of social, emotional, and behavioural strategies, fostering independence and confidence.
Monitor and record progress, contributing to regular assessments and reviews.
Promote positive behaviour and create a safe, nurturing environment for the student.
Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for the student.
The Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with students who have complex needs (e.g. autism, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, challenging behaviour).
A patient, calm, and empathetic approach, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on a child's education and well-being.
Strong communication skills, both with the student and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, to achieve the best outcomes for the student.
Previous experience in a 1:1 support role is desirable but not essential.
A good understanding of safeguarding procedures and an ability to implement them in daily practice.
Relevant qualifications in special education, child development, or a related field (e.g. Level 2 or 3 TA qualification, or a relevant SEN qualification).
