Role Overview:
As an SEN Teacher at [School Name], you will work with students with varying levels of learning difficulties, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, and speech and language difficulties. You will provide tailored teaching, adapt the curriculum, and use creative and specialized strategies to meet the individual needs of each student. The role will involve working closely with teaching assistants, support staff, and parents to ensure students achieve their potential in both academic and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, deliver, and assess lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of students with SEN.
Differentiate the curriculum and teaching strategies to support a range of learning styles and abilities.
Provide one-to-one and small group support for students requiring additional help.
Create and implement personalized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other professionals.
Monitor and track student progress, offering feedback and adapting teaching methods as necessary.
Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement, confidence, and well-being.
Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.
Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide policies for supporting SEN students.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience working in a special educational needs environment.
A strong understanding of various SEN needs, including learning difficulties, ASD, and other related conditions.
Experience creating and implementing IEPs and supporting students with a range of academic and behavioral needs.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
Patience, empathy, and a commitment to making a real difference in the lives of students.
A proactive, flexible approach to problem-solving and teaching.
A relevant SEN qualification (e.g., SENCo, ASD or specific learning difficulties training) would be advantageous, but not essential.
