We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and dedicated SEN Teacher to join our team at a well-established school in Coventry. The role will involve working with students who have complex needs, including but not limited to, autism, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and emotional or behavioural challenges. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who require specialist teaching and support.

As a SEN Teacher, you will work in small class sizes, allowing you to provide personalised education that meets the individual needs of each student. Your role will be to develop, plan, and deliver engaging and meaningful lessons that foster learning, independence, and confidence, while also providing a safe and supportive environment for students to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to the individual needs of students with complex SEN.

Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected.

Work closely with the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), other teachers, and support staff to ensure personalised learning plans are followed.

Support students with both academic and personal development, helping them to build key life skills.

Implement and monitor progress against individual education plans (IEPs) and set achievable learning goals for each student.

Promote positive behaviour, social skills, and emotional well-being.

Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure that each student's needs are being met effectively.

Maintain a high standard of classroom management and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed.

Participate in the school's CPD (Continuous Professional Development) programme to enhance your skills and knowledge in the area of special education.

The Ideal Candidate:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) teaching.

A strong understanding of complex needs (e.g. autism spectrum disorder, physical disabilities, sensory impairments).

Experience in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and using differentiated teaching strategies.

A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach, with a genuine passion for supporting students to achieve their full potential.

Strong communication skills, both with students and in collaborating with staff, parents, and external agencies.

Experience of using assistive technologies and alternative communication methods would be an advantage.

Knowledge of safeguarding policies and best practices in SEN education.

A commitment to ongoing professional development and training.

Why Join Us?

A supportive and inclusive school environment, where every member of staff is valued and encouraged to develop.

The opportunity to work with small class sizes, enabling a more personalised and focused approach to teaching.

Competitive salary and benefits package, commensurate with experience.

A dedicated and friendly team of professionals committed to making a difference.

Opportunities for professional development and training in special educational needs.

The chance to work in a school that prides itself on its commitment to the inclusion and well-being of all students.
