Job Title: SEN Support Worker - Autism, SEMH, and Trauma ExperienceLocation: Kidderminster, Worcestershire
Full-time - term time only - 5 days per week
Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced SEN (Special Educational Needs) Support Worker to join our dedicated team in Kidderminster. The successful candidate will have a strong background in supporting children and young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, autism, personal care, and trauma-informed care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one support to children and young adults with SEMH, autism, and complex needs.
* Assist with personal care tasks, including support with mobility, hygiene, feeding, and dressing as required.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure the wellbeing and progress of students.
* Support emotional regulation and help manage challenging behaviors in a calm and positive manner.
* Develop and implement individual care plans and risk assessments.
* Promote independence and life skills.
* Work in a trauma-informed way, understanding the impact of past experiences on behaviour and learning.
Requirements:
* Experience working with SEMH, autism, and personal care.
* Experience in trauma-informed care and understanding of the impact of adverse experiences on mental health.
* Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and empathy.
* Full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle (for travel between sites or to support with activities and community access).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* A caring, compassionate, and patient approach.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Level 2/3 NVQ in Health and Social Care, or equivalent.
* Autism Awareness training or qualifications.
* Experience in a school or residential care setting is desirable but not essential.
