Part-Time SEN Teaching Assistant (Temp to Permanent)Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Hours: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our specialist education team on a part-time basis, with the opportunity for the role to become permanent. This is an exciting opportunity to support children with complex Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, Anxiety, Behavioural Challenges, and Trauma.
About the Role:
As a valued member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering tailored support to meet the individual needs of our students. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to implement personalised strategies that promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and academic progress. Your contribution will be fundamental in creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct, personalised support to students with Autism, SEMH, Anxiety, Behavioural and Trauma-related needs
Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies
Support students during classroom activities and unstructured times, fostering social skills and independence
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure holistic support
Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, reporting as required
Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies at all times
Essential Requirements:
Demonstrable experience supporting children and young people with Autism, SEMH, Anxiety, Behavioural issues, and Trauma
Must hold a full, valid driving licence and have access to a reliable vehicle to facilitate travel to and from the school
Must have a current DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one prior to commencement
Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, patience, and a commitment to fostering positive relationships with students and colleagues
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
A proactive and flexible approach to work, with a genuine passion for supporting children with complex needs
