Do you have the patience, resilience, and commitment to support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Northampton. This role involves working closely with students aged 11-16 who require additional support to help them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
Assist in the development and implementation of behaviour support plans and individual learning strategies.
Build positive, trusting relationships with students to support emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external agencies.
Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment for all pupils.
Person Specification:
Experience working with young people with SEMH needs, preferably in a school or youth setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach to behaviour management.
Ability to remain professional and supportive in challenging situations.
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Youth Work, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
