We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner schools, offering tailored support for children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
Role Overview
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who face emotional and behavioural challenges in their learning environment. Working alongside the class teacher and SENCo, you will help create a nurturing and inclusive classroom atmosphere, enabling students to engage with their education and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual and small group support to students with SEMH needs.
Foster positive relationships with students, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
Assist with behaviour management strategies and help de-escalate challenging situations.
Encourage students to take part in class activities and maintain focus on their learning.
Collaborate with teaching staff and SENCo to implement tailored learning plans.
Monitor and track student progress, reporting any concerns to the relevant staff members.
Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and resources.
Key Skills and Qualities:
Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs (desirable but not essential).
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with students.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage challenging behavior in a calm and effective manner.
Understanding of safeguarding policies and practices.
A genuine passion for making a positive impact in the lives of young learners.
