SEND: Social Emotional Mental Health
Are you a passionate and dedicated educational psychologist with a keen interest in Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) interventions within school settings?
Josh of Aspire People is currently seeking an experienced Educational Psychologist to join our team and contribute to the implementation of evidence-based SEMH interventions by Teaching Assistants (TAs).
About the Role:
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in addressing the SEMH needs of school-aged children, particularly in the context of SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
Various Doctors and Psychologists have highlighted the importance of leveraging Teaching Assistants to provide crucial support to pupils with SEMH needs.
The key focus areas of this position include:
Leveraging Teaching Assistants
Explore how the rise of Teaching Assistants in educational settings can be effectively harnessed to deliver vital support to pupils with SEMH needs.
Evidence-Based Approaches: Implement universal, targeted, and specialist evidence-based SEMH interventions in the classroom, either on a 1:1 basis or in small group settings, to address the unique needs of each student.
Effective Implementation:
Recognize and promote the significance of effectively implementing SEMH interventions to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with school staff and Teaching Assistants to design and implement evidence-based SEMH interventions.
Recieve guidance and training to Teaching Assistants to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to support students with SEMH needs.
Evaluate the effectiveness of SEMH interventions and make data-driven decisions to refine and improve strategies.
Develop and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that prioritizes the well-being of all students.
Stay current on the latest research and developments in the field of SEMH support and educational psychology.
Qualifications and Experience:
A degree in educational psychology or a related field. Or a level 2/ 3 in SEND, SEMH or Child/ Health and Social related courses
Previous experience in designing and implementing SEMH interventions in school settings.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Knowledge of evidence-based practices and interventions for SEMH support.
