Experienced Teaching AssistantLocation: Primary School, Ware
Hours: 8:30am - 15:30pm
Position: Temporary (until Christmas)
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to join our Year 6 class in a lively and well-established primary school in Ware. This is a temporary role to start as soon as possible and will run until Christmas. You will be working alongside a dedicated team of teachers to support the academic, emotional, and social development of students in Year 6.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting the class teacher in delivering lessons and activities that are aligned with the curriculum for Year 6 students.
Providing individual and small group support to students, helping them to achieve their learning goals, particularly in core subjects such as English and Maths.
Assisting with classroom management, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
Helping with assessment tasks and recording progress for students, ensuring that they are ready for their transition to secondary school.
Supporting students in preparation for end of Key Stage 2 SATs and other assessments.
Encouraging students to develop independence and critical thinking skills.
Providing pastoral support, ensuring that students feel safe, valued, and supported in their learning journey.
Promoting positive behaviour and implementing the school's behaviour management strategies.
Essential Requirements:
DBS on the update service (this is mandatory).
Experience working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, ideally with experience in supporting Year 6 students.
Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum, particularly for Key Stage 2.
Good communication skills, both with students and staff.
Able to work effectively in a team, but also confident working independently when required.
Commitment to child welfare and safeguarding.
Eligibility to work in the UK (Right to Work documentation required).
Desirable (but not essential):
Experience supporting students with additional learning needs (SEN).
Knowledge of SATs preparation and assessment frameworks for Year 6.
First Aid qualification (or willingness to obtain).
