Personal Care Assistant (1:1) - Female OnlyLocation: Ashton-under-Lyne
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £18,638 pro rata (FTE £24,027)
Contract: Permanent, Term-Time Only (TTO + 5 days)
Hours: 33 hours 15 minutes per week (Please only apply if you can commit to the full time hours)
Aspire People are currently recruiting for a Female Personal Care Assistant on behalf of a specialist secondary setting in Ashton-under-Lyne. This is a one-to-one role supporting a female student with personal care needs in a nurturing and supportive educational environment.
Please note: Due to the intimate nature of this position, there is a genuine occupational requirement for female-only applicants, in line with the Equality Act 2010.
About the Role:
This role is focused on providing dignified and respectful 1:1 personal care support for a female student with additional physical needs. The school caters for young people aged 11-16 with a variety of complex learning difficulties, autism, and social-emotional needs. All students have an EHCP, and the team is committed to offering every young person the care and attention they deserve.
This is a critical role in ensuring the student's comfort, safety, and well-being throughout the school day. You'll work closely with teaching and support staff, promoting independence wherever possible while maintaining a sensitive and discreet approach to care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 personal care support, including assistance with toileting and hygiene
- Manual Handling / Moving and Handling Certificate or training would be desirable
- Maintain the student's dignity and comfort at all times
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with both students and colleagues
- Support the student's wider learning and emotional well-being
- Follow safeguarding and health & safety protocols consistently
- Contribute to a nurturing and inclusive school culture
Requirements:
- Experience in a care or support role (educational or health/care sector)
- A respectful, empathetic, and discreet approach to personal care
- Physical and emotional resilience
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and professional standards
Offer:
- NJC scale point 3: £24,027 FTE / Actual salary: £18,638 (pro rata)
- Permanent position, term-time only (plus 5 INSET days)
