URGENT OPPORTUNITY: 2 x SEN Teaching Assistants (Temp-to-Perm) - 1:1 HLTA Support | SEMH School | Immediate StartLocation: Stoke on Trent
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Hours: Full-time, Term Time Only (Monday to Friday)
Salary: Competitive and Based on Experience
We are seeking two highly skilled and committed SEN Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEMH school supporting pupils with a wide range of complex needs. This setting caters for children with:
* SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health)
* SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties)
* PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties)
* Trauma and Anxiety-related conditions
This is a temp-to-perm opportunity with long-term potential for the right candidates.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support to pupils with significant emotional and behavioural needs
* Assist in implementing individual education and behaviour plans
* Help pupils manage their anxiety and trauma through positive, nurturing support
* Support with physical tasks and personal care, where required
* Maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive environment that supports learning and emotional development
* Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and wider support teams
* Participate in ongoing training, including physical intervention where necessary
Essential Requirements:
* Must have proven experience working with children with special educational needs
* Ability to commit to five full days per week (Monday to Friday, term time only)
* Must have access to your own vehicle - there are no public transport links to the school
* Experience within SEMH settings or specialist schools is highly desirable
* Knowledge or certification in physical intervention techniques (e.g. Team Teach, MAPA) preferred
* High levels of resilience, patience, and a proactive attitude
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* HLTA qualification or equivalent level of experience is an advantage
