Job description
Higher Level Teaching Assistants - Specialist SEND Provision📍 Location: Shropshire Area
📅 Start Date: September 2025
🕒 Term Time | Monday to Friday | Permanent Contract
We are excited to be recruiting experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) on behalf of a respected and innovative special educational needs setting in the Shropshire area. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a passionate and highly skilled team dedicated to delivering a personalised and holistic approach to learning.
The setting supports a broad age range-from Early Years to post-19 learners-with a wide variety of complex needs, including moderate to profound learning difficulties, Autism, physical disabilities, communication difficulties, and challenging behaviours.
About the Role:
As an HLTA, you will play a key role in shaping daily learning experiences for students with special educational needs. Working under the guidance of a Senior Leader, you will take responsibility for:
- Planning and delivering tailored lessons based on medium-term planning, EHCP targets, IEPs, and individual support strategies
- Conducting risk assessments and making on-the-spot decisions to adapt lessons for varying physical, behavioural, and emotional needs
- Using positive behaviour support plans to create a safe and inclusive environment
- Supporting and guiding classroom staff to ensure consistent approaches to learning and care
- Acting as a liaison between teaching staff and support teams, contributing to ongoing assessment and progress tracking
What We're Looking For:
- Significant experience working in a school setting as a TA or HLTA, particularly in SEND or complex needs provision
- Confidence in leading lessons and managing small groups or classes independently
-A solid understanding of EHCPs, behaviour support planning, and differentiated learning
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and support others
- Calm, proactive, and flexible under pressure-committed to achieving the best outcomes for every learner.
This is a rewarding opportunity for professionals who are passionate about making a tangible difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs. If you're looking for a new challenge in a setting where no two days are the same, and your contribution is valued and recognised-this is the role for you.
