Are you a passionate and dedicated teacher with experience in pastoral care? Aspire People is working with a fantastic boys' secondary school in Bolton, who are looking for an enthusiastic Head of Year (HoY) to join their team. The role is to start ASAP or, ideally, after the October half-term.
As the Head of Year, you will take on a pivotal role in supporting the academic and personal development of students. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to promoting student welfare, creating a positive and supportive school environment, and working closely with both staff and parents to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and support a year group of students, ensuring their personal, social, and academic development.
- Implement and oversee pastoral care systems to ensure student well-being.
- Provide guidance and support to tutors and teaching staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Monitor and track academic progress, attendance, and behavior, taking proactive steps to address any concerns.
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to promote a positive school culture.
- Take part in whole-school initiatives, supporting the school's vision and values.
Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is highly preferred.
- Proven experience working in a secondary school setting, ideally in a pastoral or leadership role.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and support both students and staff.
- A passion for student welfare and the ability to manage complex pastoral issues.
- Experience working with secondary-aged students, preferably within a boys' school environment.
- A proactive, flexible, and solution-focused approach to challenges.
