Job description
We are looking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a mainstream primary in their specialist SEN unit within a vibrant and inclusive primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity to support a small group of pupils in a nurturing and structured environment.About the Role:
Position: Teaching Assistant - SEN Unit
Hours: Full-time, term-time only
You will be working as part of a small and supportive team in a dedicated SEN setting that supports up to six pupils from Early Years Foundation Stage and Year 1, each with a range of additional needs. The room is led by an experienced practitioner, and you will be working closely with them to deliver tailored support, build positive relationships, and help create an engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Support pupils' learning and emotional well-being through structured routines and interventions
Work collaboratively with the room lead and wider school team to meet pupils' individual needs
Help deliver personalised learning activities and support pupils in small groups or 1:1
Promote independence, communication, and social interaction
Assist with daily classroom organisation, resources, and transitions
Contribute to observations, assessments, and pupil progress reports where required
We Are Looking For Someone Who:
Has experience working with children with special educational needs, ideally in a primary school setting
Demonstrates patience, resilience, and a calm, consistent approach
Understands the developmental needs of EYFS and KS1 children
Communicates effectively and works well as part of a team
Is willing to learn and take direction from the room lead and SEN team
Holds a relevant TA qualification (Level 2 or above preferred)
