Job description
Have you been thinking about a career in teaching but that's as far as you've got, just thinking about it?Are you unsure of how to go about taking that first step or in need of some guidance and pointing in the right direction? Well I can help.
Working as a Cover Supervisor in various secondary schools can give you a valuable insight into the world of education and a first foot on the ladder of a career you have only been thinking about until now. Being a Cover Supervisor can give you the experience and understanding of teaching and build your confidence. It can also help you decide if teaching is indeed the right path for you. Once you are sure it is you can then apply for teaching training.
I have worked with schools in the Coventry & Warwickshire area for the past seven years so I have knowledge of the schools you would be working in and I have built up excellent working relationships with them. Many of my schools will ask for Cover Supervisors and there is plenty of work to keep you busy. Some schools may even take you on if they have need for a permanent cover and this can then lead to them offering you teacher training at that particular school if they have a scheme in place.
I have detailed below the basic outline of a Cover Supervisor role but I would be able to give you far more information when we meet at the registration stage:
The Role:
*A Cover Supervisor is likely to be used for short term absences of a teacher in the classroom setting.
*You would be supervising work that has been set and ensuring this is completed and the pupils are on task.
*Managing the behaviour of pupils
*Dealing with immediate problems or emergencies according to school policies
*Provide additional support in classrooms
*Help out in other duties when needed such as lunch time, registrations, detentions and reception
The Hours:
*Hours are normally from 8.30am to 3.30pm although this can vary in different schools
*We can be as flexible as possible so that your work can fit in with other commitments you may have
Do you think that this is the job for you and offering you that route into a teaching career? I am very keen to talk with you in the first instance.
