Job description
"Every small step is a big achievement."We're looking for compassionate, dedicated people to support children with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) in Liverpool's specialist SEND schools.
You'll be part of a close-knit team helping pupils who have a range of complex needs - including sensory, physical, medical, and communication challenges - to access learning, build trust, and experience joy every day.
What the role involves:
* Providing one-to-one and small-group support in a classroom setting
* Assisting pupils with personal care, including toileting and changing
* Supporting children with mobility and physical needs - including wheelchair transfers and use of hoists (training provided if needed)
* Helping to deliver sensory-based learning activities designed around each child's individual plan
* Working closely with teachers, therapists, and medical staff to ensure every child is safe, comfortable, and included
What we're looking for:
* Experience supporting children or adults with complex physical and learning needs (school, residential, or care settings)
* Awareness of PICA, PEG feeding, epilepsy, and medical protocols
* Confidence working with wheelchair users and using hoisting equipment safely
* Someone calm, patient, and committed to providing dignified personal care
* A team player who can adapt quickly, follow care plans, and celebrate every small milestone
* Must be able to provide two years' worth of employment references
