Behaviour Support Mentor - Ideal for Youth Support/Prison Services BackgroundsLocation: PRU in Tameside, Greater Manchester | Full-Time | Term-Time Only

Are you experienced in supporting vulnerable young people in challenging environments such as youth services, prison/probation services, or residential care? Do you have the resilience, patience, and passion to make a lasting impact on the lives of children with additional needs?
Aspire People is working closely with a well-respected Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Tameside to recruit a Behaviour Support Mentor to work with children and young people at the first point of contact within the school. This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to transition into education and support young people with complex needs in a structured, supportive setting.
About the Role:
You will be working with students aged 11-16 who may have:
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Explosive or challenging behaviours
- LAC (Looked After Children) backgrounds
- Histories of trauma or school exclusion
Your role will involve:
- Providing calm, consistent, and positive behaviour support
- Acting as a trusted adult and mentor, building strong, supportive relationships
- Supporting students in small groups or 1:1 both in and out of the classroom
- Helping de-escalate challenging situations and promote positive engagement with learning
We're Looking For:
- Experience in a relevant setting such as youth offending teams, probation services, care homes, or prison services
- Confidence in managing behaviours that challenge, with a compassionate and trauma-informed approach
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to form positive relationships with hard-to-reach young people
- A commitment to helping every student feel safe, valued, and understood
