Plans to make alterations to the front entrance at Painsley Catholic College have been approved. The schools design will look modern and blend in with the adjacent 3 storey block. 

 
Thumbs up to one of Staffs highest-performing primary schools, set to become the first academy in Newcastle. Bursley Primary has won Government approval. This means that the school will have more freedom over its finances buildings and curriculum.
 
A student from Newcastle-under-Lyme School has won a national photography competition. Sophie aged 11 won the RSPCA Young Photographer award with the image entitled 
"blacktailed godwit in mist". For her prize she received 2 Olympus cameras and £50 vouchers for Hamley's toy store.
 
Students from Thistley Hough High were recently invited to the construction sight of their new school. The  students were able to sign a metal girder before it was added to the building. Work began in Sept 2011 and should be complete by Easter 2013.
 
Chase Terrace Technology College is holding a concert with live bands on the 27th January. Its all in aid for raising money for Duke Of Edinburgh students to go to Ghana to help 
with the building of new wells.  
 
Staffordshire Council have put plans on hold surrounding the changes to the dates & times of the academic year. A council spokesman said that research had been done into 
making the summer holidays shorter and changing the 3 term year into a 5 term year.  The decision whether to go ahead with This will be reviewed in 2012
