A school that missed out on millions of pounds for a new building are converting into a academy. Top Valley School has been given permission by the department for education to begin the academy process. The Academy will be sponsored by Nottingham College.

 
Nottingham has scored the best-ever school test results for 11-year olds. the city saw improvements from the key stage 2 tests that were taken in the summer. 
 
A student that attended South East Derbyshire College has become a successful business man. Sam Wheatley didn't know what to do in the future and decided to enroll on a media course and hasn't looked back since. Sam now has a degree and his own film and media business.
 
Princess Ann visited the University of Nottingham’s Medical School on 13th January to mark years of research in to occupational therapy.
 
A special remembrance service was held for some Nottingham schools at Chetwynd Barracks in Chilwell. It was just before Christmas. Many of the children have a parent about to be deployed to Afghanistan.
 
 
Christmas cards and decorations made by school children have helped raise hundreds of pounds for the homeless. Pupils at Bulwell Academy took part in a Framework fundraising campaign to improve their business skills. Each business community at the academy teamed up with a staff member from Framework to learn what the charity does to help the homeless. The groups then came up with a fundraising idea which they developed and used.
 
Funding has been secured for a £17 Million school rebuild a Farnborough School and Technology College. It is one of the last schools in the city to benefit from the governments Building Schools for the Future fund and in the next two months a decision will be made when the work shall start on the school. A lot of the old school buildings will be demolished in the massive rebuild. The new building is going to be built in the current playing fields.
