Making a good impression

There are hundreds of agencies in the Midlands and hundreds of people working in schools. Sometimes it can be hard to stand out from the crowd.

If you can provide a service to schools that is a cut above the rest you will get asked back time and time again.

Below are some tips for setting a good impression and making the most of your assignment.

  • Always confirm with your consultant your start time.
  • Make sure you are there 15 minutes earlier to find a parking space and reception. If you are driving traffic can be a nightmare so leave more time than you think you need.
  • Keep your mobile turned off during school.
  • Dress very smartly, first impressions count.
  • Abide by school smoking policies.
  • Never consume alcohol or recreational drugs.
  • Socialise in the staff room.
  • Always touch base with someone before you leave and thank them for your day.
  • If you are in a permanent or long-term assignment get involved in after school clubs, staff meetings etc. The more effort you put in the more you will get out of your school
  • Inform your line manager if any issues arise over child protection

“I am an ambassador for Aspire People”

My consultant has found me work every day which has led to some wonderful long term assignments.  When I am sent to an assignment I feel as if I am visiting the school as an ambassador for Aspire People and I am proud to work for what I feel is by far the best teaching agency in the West Midlands.
